Today I saw an article which shows what I've coined Civil Darwinism in full effect.
What is this crap? Seriously people, I'm sorry but you guys have simply lost your mind if a Presidental election has thrown you into some sort of deep depression.
Look, okay, so Bush got elected and you think it sucks. Well, that's fair -- but let's look at some facts here people. This isn't armageddon, I don't hear any trumpets and the rivers aren't running with blood last time I went into New York City so what the hell is going on here? Normally I put forth a lot of effort to understand other people's perspectives on things, but not this time -- this time you've just gone too far.
GET OVER IT
This isn't about being a Democrat or Republican, this is about your ability to cope with life in a very fundamental way. Post Election Stress Trauma? I thought it was a joke at first, but now I don't know what is more ridiculus -- the fact people lost their marbles over an election, or the fact a doctor actually coined a term for it. What was so tramatic here? You want Tramatic try on a pair of Iraqi shoes as they try not to get shot or blown up on the way to the polls. That not fair of me? You bet your ass it is, there are people over there who are looking to cast their ballot in a few weeks here and wondering if they'll make it through the whole thing alive... I bet the worst you had to do is post-pone your god-damn tee-time to get to the polls. God forbid you had to actually go out of your way to vote. But you sure as hell didn't feel like your life was on the line did you? Well maybe you did, but that's my point -- you're crazy.
Here's another little gem from the article:
“I feel like I live in a dictatorship"
The absolute obscurity of this statement is only matched by the absolute ignorance which allows you to say it. But I guess when you're running on a theory like this it's really easy to make other wack-job assumptions as well. Nope, the media isn't free at all is it? Every two years we hold representative elections and every two years they are completely bullshit right? No one ever really wins but the people who are "supposed" to win, and no one is ever really fighting for our personal interests. Of course that includes the President, who has somehow managed without a single shred of real evidence rigged the election against a real flesh-and-blood candidate. It's all fake, it's all lies and 255 million people have been scammed by a out of control renegade government headed by the Bush Dictatorship. Give me a break, have you ever read about an election in a dictatorship? They have a ballot something like this:
"Completely Fair" Presidential Election, 2004
Do you want <Insert Dictator name here> to be <Insert bullshit title here>
[ ] Yes
[ ] Shoot me in the head
(please select one)

At least they don't have a problem with chads do they? Of course I guess you can put whoever you want on the ballot because every one of those poll workers is working for Bush too and ensured that any ballot marked "Kerry" was actually thrown away and burned.. Oh wait, that was the Ukraine wasn't it? Geez I get my Dictatorships all confused sometimes.
Look, I don't mind if you're upset because Bush won, that's fine. I don't care if you and I differ on this or that when it comes to the way gov't should run, for all I know I might agree with you. But seriously people you guys are clear off the map with this. Then again, I guess I really don't care -- if you remove yourself from the pool of civil opinion by falling off the deep end then it's probably doing us all a big favor. Like I said, Civil Darwinism.
